Baltimore has a nice community of trans individuals but meeting them can be difficult at times because there’s no defined neighborhood.
Instead, there are trans friendly spots spread all across the city.
The trans community also extends online, creating a massive virtual network.

List of TG Friendly Venues in Baltimore
1. Bars and Clubs
As I said, there’s no single particular nightlife spot where TGs gather in Baltimore.
Though Remington is considered to be one of the most trans friendly areas you’ll find T’s in most bars and clubs around town. But Lauraville also has a lot of LGBTQ inclusive places.
Here are a few of my favorites…
Mixers Bar – This bar is often visited by trans folks because the staff is super nice and the place is safe.
They also host exciting events now and then so you’ll always have a fun time and never feel lonely here!
Rowan Tree – Contrary to what most people think, this isn’t exclusively a gay bar.
They welcome everyone and I always find at least a few trans individuals in the mix here. Don’t miss out on karaoke night.
Ottobar – One of the coolest spots in town. Aside from regularly having a queer, they host monthly Dyke Nights where you can find many trans women.
Melanie’s at Griffith’s Tavern – Not as famous as other options on this list, but this place is run by two young queer women.
They’ve created a laidback and inclusive atmosphere so it’s slowly becoming a hotspot for trans folks.
Eagle Bar – This place has become a staple in the LGBT+ crowd, thanks to its colorful decorations.

2. Community Centers and Organizations
Baltimore is home to some fantastic organizations that offer support to the trans community.
Starting with the Pride Center of Maryland, a community center that plays a key role in providing support to the LGBT+ community.
They host workshops, events, and discussions where you’ll often find TGs.
But one of my favorite organizations is Trans Maryland as it’s exclusively dedicated to supporting the transgender community in the region.
And if sports are your thing, check out Stonewall Sports Baltimore, they’re known for hosting queer meetups where you can meet many trans folks!
3. Trans Friendly Dating Sites
Navigating the spread-out trans scene in Baltimore can make meeting folks a bit tricky, which is why I find online dating sites handy.
Among the many options, OkCupid stands out for me. It’s one of the rare apps that allows you to filter specifically for trans individuals.
However, a quick heads-up for cis men: If you’re on OkCupid, keep it respectful.
Most trans women there are looking for genuine connections, be it dating or friendship.
Now, if you’re more into casual stuff, hop on to TSDates instead as it’s widely used by trans people seeking hookups.
4. Online Groups and Pages
The online side of Baltimore’s trans community is a game-changer, and Facebook groups are buzzing with activity.
Let’s kick off with the Trans Maryland Community, a resourceful group catering to both binary and non-binary trans individuals.
It’s not just a knowledge hub; it’s a great spot for socializing within the community.
Then there’s Bmore Trans, a welcoming space for venting and sharing resources, brimming with opportunities to form meaningful connections with trans and non-binary folks.
Next up is Bmore Queer, a thriving community of over 6,000 members.
This group is all about sharing needs, wants, desires, and offerings. It’s an excellent platform to stay in the loop about what’s going on in the community, including upcoming events.
Last but not least, there’s Baltimore Queer Hike. If you’re into adventurous activities, this group, known for its exciting hiking plans, is a must-join.

5. Other LGBT+ Spaces
If you’re looking for more inclusive spaces then the Red Emma’s Bookstore Coffeehouse is actually quite popular among trans and queer folks.
They often invite trans guest speakers and also host a social group called Transmasc Social Hour on the 2nd Wednesday of every month.
Similarly, you should also check out the queer nights hosted by the Movement Hampden climbing gym on the 2nd Friday of each month.
What It’s Like to Be Transgender in Baltimore
Baltimore’s trans community is lively and tight-knit. Everyone looks out for each other, and some organizations bring folks together.
You’ll find a lot of trans people here, especially trans women, but it’s like a small town.
Everyone knows each other pretty quickly but no complaints though, it’s a friendly bunch.
And I know safety is even a bigger concern for trans women but Baltimore is like any big city. Just keep your wits about you, and you’ll be okay.
As for trans healthcare, there are many choices such as Chase Brexton. They’re good for transition-related stuff, but there are other options too.
It’s all about finding what works best for you in this welcoming city.
