I’ll be honest with you – Mississauga isn’t really known for having an active trans social scene.
There are hardly any LGBT night spots in this city and no community centers.
But this doesn’t mean you won’t find any trans people here at all.
There are a couple of ways to connect with the community that I will share in this guide.
So buckle up as I take you through the best ways to meet trans people in Mississauga.

1. Bars and Clubs
Mississauga doesn’t have a trans-specific nightlife scene and it’s not about a lack of acceptance.
It’s just that folks often head to Toronto for their LGBTQ+ entertainment.
There are some inclusive bars in Mississauga, but meeting trans individuals there can be hit or miss.
Nonetheless, here are your options:
The Wave Bar at 285 Enfield – I visited this place for the food like most others, but honestly, I loved the welcoming atmosphere.
There were many queers around blending in with cis folks. On a side note, they serve incredible fish tacos!
Club M4 at 1989 A Dundas St E – Alright so before anything, let me tell you that this isn’t your regular bar.
It’s a lifestyle club but they host trans nights on Tuesdays. In addition, even on regular days, you can find a good mix of queer couples here so it’s worth a visit!
Caven’s Ally Bar at 585 Lakeshore Rd E – A great hangout spot for pretty much everyone.
I’d recommend visiting on their Wednesday karaoke nights as it usually draws a friendly, LGBT crowd.
Woody’s and Sailor at 467 Church St #465 – I know this bar falls in Toronto but there are no places to enjoy drag shows in Mississauga.
Luckily, this place is just a 30-minute drive away. And as shown in the video, it has some of the most talented drag queens you’ll find in the city…
2. Community Centers and Organizations
This city doesn’t have a specific LGBT community center but the East Mississauga Community Health Center steps in with trans support groups.
They run two groups: one for trans and gender non-conforming individuals on Wednesdays from 6-8 PM.
The other is for the broader LGBTQ+ community on Mondays at the same time.
Note: I’ve been hearing a lot of complaints about this center, so call to confirm if they’re still hosting the groups before visiting.
3. Online Groups and Pages
If you’re looking for online trans communities then unfortunately you won’t find any.
However, I did come across this Mississauga Pride Community Facebook page which is quite active.
Keep an eye on it to learn about upcoming events where you might potentially find TGs.
Other than that, there are some LGBT groups and events on Meetup that are worth checking out.
4. Trans Dating Sites
It’s pretty clear that Mississauga lacks trans-friendly spots, so your best bet is to hop on online dating sites.
Apps like OkCupid have a large trans user base not just from Mississauga but the whole Greater Toronto Area.
I’ve used it not just for dating but also for making friends and had great results on both ends.
You can also try out Tinder, but I personally don’t like it because it’s full of pretentious people looking to hook up.
If you’re seeking honesty and casual connections, Grindr is a better alternative, offering opportunities for both trans and cis individuals.
What It’s Like to Be Transgender in Mississauga
In terms of safety, Mississauga isn’t a bad place for trans people, but it’s clear that it doesn’t offer much in terms of the social scene.
Having traveled across Canada, I must say that Mississauga is one of the least happening places in the country.
Most trans individuals here live a quiet life, and when they want to party, they head to Toronto or other nearby cities.
On the bright side, throughout my stay here, I didn’t encounter any transphobia, but experiences can vary.
So, whether Mississauga is a good city to be trans in depends on your lifestyle.
If you prefer a more laid-back and quieter atmosphere, then you’ll love it here.
But if you’re someone who loves interacting with the community, then you might want to explore other options.

It simply means you’ll need to invest more time and effort.
Despite the community being small, it still exists. You just have to keep trying.
