Best places to meet trans people in Fayetteville

I’ll be honest with you – finding trans people in Fayetteville isn’t easy and unless you’re lucky, you will require some serious patience.

The problem is, there are only a limited number of LGBT+ spots so most trans individuals eventually move to other cities once they move out of the family house.

Nonetheless, there are still a few hidden gems that attract an LGBT+ crowd.

So in this article, I’ll highlight different ways to meet trans individuals in Fayetteville.

This includes different nightlife options, support groups, and also online dating apps.

And make sure to stick around because towards the end I’ll also shed light on how the city treats trans men and women. Let’s begin!

List of TG Friendly Venues in Fayetteville

1. Bars and Clubs

Tranny friendly bars and clubs in Fayetteville

Fayetteville has never been big on queer bars, but there used to be a few decent options like Alibi, and Spectrum.

But over the years, the majority of them have closed, especially due to the pandemic.

Now there are only two LGBT friendly places left.

One of them is Jack’s Tap.

It’s located at Fort Bragg Rd, and it’s the go-to spot for queer and trans individuals from across the city.

Your other option is White Rabbit Pub which is also at Fort Bragg Rd. They’re known for their karaoke nights and occasional drag shows.

The crowd is a mix of straight and LGBT+ people, so you’re likely to find at least a few trans individuals.

Sadly, these are the only potential trans bars I know about in Fayetteville.

Of course, you can meet TGs at other night spots but they aren’t LGBT focused so the chances are low.

2. Community Centers and Organizations

Finding trans support groups in this city can be tricky. But luckily, we have the Fayetteville Pride organization which is pretty active.

They often host LGBT+ meetups and operate a book club by the name of Rainbow Skies.

They do monthly meetups at Cliffdale Regional Library on the second Saturday of every month.

You can join in-person or virtually – either way, it’s a great opportunity to meet trans folks.

Another way is to join in as a volunteer so you can get invited to private meetings and network with the trans community.

In addition, there’s also Fayetteville PFLAG. They also host meetups and events from time to time where you may find TGs.

You can message on their Facebook page to learn more about their upcoming plans.

3. Online Groups and Pages

If you’re looking for trans friendly online spaces then Fayetteville has a few social media groups as well.

I’ll start with this LGBTQ Community group that primarily supports drag queens, with a small representation of trans individuals.

While the group isn’t as active, joining and initiating a post might still offer a chance to connect.

Your second option is the Fayetteville Pride Community Group, which is livelier and welcomes LGBTQ folks and allies.

4. Trans Dating Sites

Online dating sites are the only saving grace if you want to meet trans people in this city.

But just a heads up that they too require a fair bit of trial and error. Plus, you must be open to meeting TGs in other nearby cities of North Carolina.

With that said, trans men and women normally use OkCupid. It has extensive search features that let you filter out trans profiles.

But if you’re a cis man, then just a heads up to initiate the convo with respect. Don’t fetishize us otherwise, you’ll quickly get ghosted.

Another thing to remember is that most trans individuals in OKC are mainly trying to make friends or seeking serious relationships.

If your sole intention is to hook up then I’d suggest opting for another site like TSDates.

As evident by its lewd interface, the site is widely used for T4M casual encounters.

What It’s Like to Be Transgender in Fayetteville, North Carolina

With limited LGBTQ+ venues, being trans in Fayetteville can be tough.

The trans community is small and often keeps a low profile due to the city’s conservative-leaning, with a noticeable presence of GOP supporters.

Unfortunately, facing transphobia isn’t uncommon. Even simple words like ‘pronoun’ or ‘trans’ can trigger some people to use insensitive slurs like “shemale” or “tranny”.

Many trans individuals I know in Fayetteville have pretty much faced the same issues.

Most of them ended up moving to more inclusive areas like Raleigh-Durham-Chapel Hill or, if possible, Charlotte.

So yeah, as awful as it sounds, that’s the bitter reality of being a trans individual in Fayetteville. It’s not an easy ride.

Wrapping Up: Enjoy Meeting Trans in Fayetteville

So, that’s Fayetteville for you. It might not be the most happening place for trans folks, but it’s not a total blank slate.

With two LGBT+ bars, events from Fayetteville Pride, and a buzzing online scene, there are doors to connect with trans men and women.

Regardless of the method you choose, just remember finding TGs in Fayetteville may take some time so be patient in your search.

That’s all from me. If you think I’ve left anything out then don’t hesitate to let me know in the comments!
