The Shreveport-Bossier City metropolitan area is overall very inclusive. You can find trans people at pretty much every other popular nightspot.
But here are some places that particularly attract an LGBT+ crowd…
Korner Lounge – Located at 205 US-80, this is like the heart of the Shreveport LGBT community—super chill, cozy, and just awesome.
They’ve got cool events like trivia, drag bingo, and leather night to spice things up. If you want a comfy neighborhood bar, this is the place to be.
Bear’s Pub – Located at 1401 Fairfield Ave, a very LGBT+ friendly place that offers a wide variety of entertainment.
Karaoke takes over on Tuesdays, Wednesdays are all about trivia, and weekends usually bring fantastic live music.
Strange Bar – Located at 235 Wall St, has the best beer selection. You’ll find all sorts of people—straight, gay, and trans folks chilling together.
They play good music on most weekends and host games and karaoke nights during the week.
Thursdays are great for cheap draft beer—just go early if you don’t like big crowds.
Erenie’s Bar – Located at 205 Wall St, it’s not necessarily a queer bar and everyone is welcome any night.
Queer and trans folks often gather here on Tuesdays and Thursdays. The atmosphere is pretty chill.
Just be cool, don’t cause trouble, and everyone gets along just fine.
Central Station – Located at 1025 Marshall St, one of my favorite spots. Visited this spot on a Saturday night and met many trans individuals.

2. Community Centers and Organizations
Shreveport doesn’t have an official LGBT community center and there aren’t many trans social groups either.
The only resource I found is Louisiana Trans Advocates which hosts online support groups on the first Sunday of every month.
Aside from that, you have Shreve Pride. They host annual events like Q-Prom which are great for meeting trans individuals.
3. Trans Dating Sites
I get it, meeting trans people in Shreveport can be a bit challenging even with all the inclusive spots around because the community isn’t that big.
That’s where online dating sites step in, and my top pick is OkCupid.
Whenever I’m looking to make trans friends or find a date, it’s my go-to. The search features are amazing and make finding TG profiles a breeze.
Now, here’s a surprising one: Grindr. I know, it’s known as a gay dating app, but hold on.
It’s perfect when I’m in the mood for some casual fun, and there are plenty of cis people up for it too.
So, if hookups are your thing, it’s definitely worth giving it a shot!

Surprisingly, I couldn’t find anything dedicated to Shreveport’s LGBT+ community online.
But there are Instagram pages of organizations like QueerPort that host trans and queer-focused events across Shreveport.
There’s also the page for ShrevePride, they look fairly active and host meetups every other month.
5. Other LGBT+ Spaces
If you’re looking for non-bar options to meet TGs then Broadmoor Library is a nice spot.
It has an LGBTQ+ book club that gathers every month. You can check in at the front desk to learn more about their next meetup.
And if you’re religious then you can also visit the Church of the Holy Cross.
It’s an inclusive Christian community, so there’s a high chance of finding queer and trans folks there.
What It’s Like to Be Transgender in Shreveport
If we strictly talk about trans rights, then I’d say that the Shreveport-Bossier City metro area is pretty safe.
Its laws offer protection to trans people and there are many LGBT+ friendly places in the city.
Most locals I came across were also friendly, especially near downtown areas like the Art District and Commerce Street.
But I get that experiences can differ, and you might occasionally run into transphobes.
And let’s not forget, the biggest drawback is that Shreveport’s trans community is small.
So I totally get why someone might prefer moving to a livelier city like New Orleans.
